Dan Freene ACS first picked a camera up 22 years ago after his failed Boy Band career in the UK came to a screaming halt. Yes, thats right, Dan was in a Boy Band. Ask him about it, when next you have him on set ;-)
Dan has travelled to over 40 countries, and his first love is to shoot location based photography from the hip, capturing impromptu moments of fascinating street life. He also loves to photograph landscapes that emit a mood and convey the story of a place. Dan also loves photographing people, and works in a comfortable style allowing his subjects to relax and be them selves in front of the camera.
Always with camera in Hand. My favourite pastime is just wandering streets photographing people.
Back in 1998 I started in a small portrait studio in Paddington, Sydney as a stills assistant. A learnt my trade here, and by 2001 I was doing my own thing. Over the past 25 years I must have photographed 5000 faces. I simply love portraiture. The art of capturing someones gaze, capturing the essence of the person, so the viewer feels like they intimately know them. Like a best friend. Thats what I am going for each time I do a portrait. I’ll let you be the judge to see if I am getting right…
