TALVI

"Talvi" is a body of work I created in 2011. The exhibition is from a trip I took with my Finnish wife to her homeland Suomi (Finland) in the coldest months of winter in 2010. The average temperature was around minus 22 degrees celcius and as an Australian I found it to be exceptionally cold, but phenomenally beautiful.

I observed that even the most simple of things took on an abstract, surreal quality, and combined with the delicate soft Arctic light, it created a world that felt like being on a frozen alien planet. If you ever get the chance to visit Scandinavia in the Winter months, take it. It was an experience I will never forget.
